Tina Dickow: Concert pictures, Ridehuset, Århus, 2005-06-10

In real life Tina is the most beautiful girl.

Here she is a flash of light and energy. A musical spirit.

They’re artsy. Yes, that’s my excuse.

Remember: New camera, haven’t mastered indoor photography yet. Also, I’m short and social phobic, therefore getting a good position at a concert is not easy. Add to that the general stress of being at my first concert ever. Even more excuses.

Tina signing my Notes album. (That’s not me on the right, by the way. I don’t have a magic camera. …yet.)

More festival blogging to come later. As a little teaser, here is what I wrote in my livejournal at 3 am last night:

Holy shit!
Carpark North and Mew fucking rocked!
Sorry about the profanity, but I think it’s in order.
This has been a great day. Brøndby won the championship. And I went to two concerts.
What an amazing weekend. Kiss my ass, social phobia!
I can die happy now. And for a change it’s not because death is sweet relief from the pain. No, it’s because I have lived.

But it’s shit o’clock and I must go to bed. I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep, my ears are bleeding music.

Paris Hilton To Marry Paris In Paris

Herpes McCrackwhore: Tina is definitely hotter than Paris Hilton. I’m not saying Paris isn’t hot. Specifically the fact that she’s a billionaire pornstar is a big turnon. But Tina is a thousand times hotter. And that’s without a sextape.
Your negative comment about Tina almost made me want to slap you. But 1) I know you’d just like that. And 2) your photobucket pictures were so hot that I forgot about everything else. I don’t mean to sound insensitive but I have always pictured you as sort of a freak, so it was rather shocking to learn that you’re so good looking. If I should place you on a scale of hottness you’d end up somewhere in between Paris and Tina. Meaning, you’re hot but Tina is still the hottest.
Please do take panty pictures, I’ll blur out your face. That’s no problem.
Also how much would I have to pay to get that video? I’m rich, it’s no problem.
You know you can still use the guestbook to leave private comments. That way the world won’t know how depraved you are. I mean, we are. Also my email address is no secret. You can use djaliplume at yahoo com. Or plume at plume dk. Or djaliplume at gmail com if you want to send really big attachments, like video files or something. Mhm.
Oh yes, I’d use 8da4e587.jpg for prostitution, cause it shows off the rack nicely.

Okay, that was slightly weird. Let’s move on. Two things I forgot yesterday:

Not only did I meet Klaus and Tina from my schooldays. I also met a lady from Tousgårdsladen. If you’re an old-time Plume reader then you’ll remember I worked there. If you’re not, then you have no clue what I’m talking about. It’s not important though. I met her at the bus stop, while I was standing there with the world’s biggest smile on my face. She asked me if I still worked at Laden. I said I had stopped a year ago. Hah. She doesn’t work at Laden, she just came in and visited some times. So I’m not offended that she didn’t know I had stopped. Fun seeing her though. My 3rd time being recognised that night.

Also a funny thing about my meeting with Tina. Remember I said she was behind a fence? The guy who asked to take her picture was putting his camera through the fence. And when I asked her if she could sign my CD I handed it to her through the fence. Then the funny bit happened. She started to sign the CD but then stopped and said something like “I’m going to go around to the other side, I can’t stand here and talk to you behind a fence”. Hehe. Well, sort of spiffy. Just shows how nice she is though. She went aroundthe fence to where we stood. She’s still way down to earth. I can’t imagine her ever becoming a bad person, no matter how much success she’d get.

Okay. Now for today. I was planning to do a lot of festivalling, but I hadn’t counted on one thing. Brøndby are playing today. Normally they play on Sundays. But not this weekend. They’re playing today, and it’s a pretty important game. If they win then they will be Danish champions. So I have to watch that. Which means I have to cut down on the festival going. But that’s okay. I’m going to go after the Brøndby game and see Carpark North and Mew. If I can get in. Those are the two shows I really wanted to go to anyway. I will be extremely happy if I can look back at Spot 11 and say that I saw Tina Dickow, Carpark North and Mew. I would have liked to have checked out some of the smaller, unknown bands (those 3 are pretty big by Danish standards. Mew perhaps the biggest Danish band of the times). But these are my first concerts, no reason to overdo it.

It’ll be late tonight. Mew are playing at 0.45. Out partying Saturday night. How different my life is. I hope tonight will go well too. I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow.

Party hardy, everybordy.

dude, im pretty sure tina is a very nice looking girl, i mean, you wouldnt crack it into “the business” if you are ugly no matter how talented you are. i’m just saying, your picture taking skills are horrible and make even the nicest looking dudes kinda deformed looking. fyi, taking pictures of people from an upper angle make them look really bad, all big headed and stubby legged. ever read People? half of the whos wearing what pictures are like that.

furthermore, are you getting father dearest anything for father’s day? you know, as a token of appreciation for his sperm, now that youre all happy about your life and all??

also, omg you heard about paris?? i tell you, paris the boy is actually kinda hot. like, omg! but your guestbook is so far away, unless you put a link to it like somewhereon the bottom too, otherwise, like, omg, it’s so far away! also, what video are you talking about, willis? also, like, omg, do you know if tina is related to this other dickow, dan i think, who is an european imported mediocre player in the nba, who is 20 something and white and soooo does not look like a basketball player because he has kinda long kinda wavy blonde hair and is kinda really short and look like a cute little boy. most nba people look like they could potentially rob and stab you (hot stuff!!

  4. Plume Says:

I’m going to answer you in here then, I can’t keep making entries just to address you, no matter how much herpes you have. Actually, having a guestbook link at the end of each entry isn’t a bad idea. Maybe I’ll see if I can fiddle with the layout.

Tina is not a “very nice looking girl”, she is hotness. Finito. Why aren’t my pictures in People? I should contact them, they might need photos of Tina.
My father is in Greenland. I’m not getting him anything. His sperm wasn’t all that great. At least that’s what my mother says. Badabing.

    What video?
“they’re all shot last week with the digital video camera that i originally bought to track my weight gain/loss/etc and general physical deteriorations. so obviously still captures of the “video” i shot are of rather superbly crappy quality”
Isn’t there a “video”? Send it to me. Or at least the panty pictures, the panty page hasn’t been updated in months. And I like panties.
I doubt Tina is related to Dan, although her last name is Dickow Danielsen, so you never know. Aren’t nba player rapists? That’s what I heard on the radio.

Det Er Da Dig, Der Er Lasse, Ikke?

Before I say anything else let me just state this:

If I could marry Tina Dickow I would. Even if she didn’t love me. If she just needed to get a danish citizenship, I would still marry her. And I would pay her. And she could live in my house while I slept in the back yard.

Tina is a goddess. She is incredibly beautiful, and she seems just as sweet as she ever was. And her music is amazing.

Can you tell I had a good time?

I didn’t.

I had a great time. I had an amazing time. I had one of the best times of my life.

Music is so beautiful. I can’t believe I had to wait this long to actually go to a concert. I am so happy that I have gotten to a point in my life where I can do it. I feel like going to all the concerts in the world.

Tina was great. The music was wonderful. She’s a great songwriter. No wonder she won a grammy for that.

I got there quite early. The concert hall was almost empty. Security guards hanging around. Crew setting up instruments on the stage. People walking in and out.

I took up position at the side of the room. Up against a pillar. I know the best place to be is in the front, but knowing that there would be a lot of people I figured it would be better to stay at the side. To have a safe side. I always do that. When I have to sit down in a room too. I sit in the corner. Then 2 out of 4 sides are safe. No people.

So I stood there and waited. The room slowly began to fill up. And suddenly I spot a familiar face. It was Klaus. A guy from high school. From my class. He had come to see our Tina too. He was with another guy who I felt like I should have recognised from somewhere. But I couldn’t place him. And we didn’t talk. I talked a little to Klaus. He asked if I had had any contact with our old classmates. I said no. He said he hadn’t either. I said I had seen Tina on TV though. Haha, I’m witty. He also asked what I had been doing since school. I said it was a long, complicated story. He said “well we have 20 minutes yet”. I said “Nope, not enough time”. I didn’t really feel like telling a story about attempted suicide, isolation, social phobia and other fun things like that. Not that I don’t want people to know. I thought about telling him to go look at my website if he wanted to get the whole story. But he went outside with his friend and I didn’t see him again so the story was left untold.

Klaus is a nice guy. I liked him when we were in school. A good kid. I was also insanely jealous of him because of a spontaneous body paint incident once. But I’ll tell you about that another time.

Eventually Tina got on stage and said hello. And the magic started. My first concert. The vibrations. The sounds. The colours. The sweeping spotlights. It was beautiful.

For the first couple of songs, however, I probably paid more attention to my camera. Trying to get pictures. Shooting some video clips. It was like I was more focused on documenting that I was in the moment, than actually being in the moment. Does that make sense?

I did give my camera a rest though, and just enjoyed the concert. It was everything I had hoped for. For years I have been imagining how it would be to stand in a crowd and listen to live music. And it completely lived up to all my dreams. It was just as amazing as I had thought it would be. I love music. love music more than ever.

I like what Emily said in her comment to my Utah entry.

this is so cool because i remember when you’d write about someday going to concerts and things, and now you are!

It is so cool! (And I will never stop promoting crack!). Now I am going to concerts. Now I am, finally. I can’t believe how good life feels all of a sudden.

Tina was perfect for the first concert. I wish it could have been one of Billy Corgan’s bands, but since that wasn’t possible then Tina was the best thing. It is just some kind of magic. The past mixing with the present and dreams of the future.

I can’t believe I went to school with her. If only for a year. Imagine if you went to school with… Jesus. That’s how I feel.

So the concert was great. I can’t wait for her new album. I know it will be great.

Let’s get to the best part though. Everybody leaves the room. I do too. Out in the sunshine. And the fresh air. (Why do people have to smoke cigarettes at a concert, can’t you wait just one hour?). I went around the side of the building. Hoping to catch a glimpse of Tina as she leaves.

And there she comes. Along with her band. There’s only a little pavement between the building and then a fenced area where I guess they have a dressing room or something like that.

I want to go up to Tina. To say hi. Something. But she’s walking pretty fast, not looking in my direction. She gets behind the fence and I’m thinking “ah well, it wasn’t meant to be. I’m just glad I got to see her show”. But then a guy beside me calls out her name. And asks Tina if he can take a picture of her. She says yes, and goes up to the fence. He sort of sticks his camera through it to take the picture. And I walk up to the fence too, standing next to the guy.

I had brought a copy of Tina’s album Notes. Thinking it would be great if I could get it signed. Fancy dreams. But they come true. I ask her if she would mind signing it. She says sure. I hand it to her. And a pen. And she looks at me. And says “You’re Lasse, aren’t you?”. Yes. Yes I am. She remembered me! Aw. She says “I thought so”. And proceeds to sign the album. “A huge hello to Lasse”.

And she’s just as I remembered her. Beautiful. Kind. Sweet. Smiling. That pretty, wonderful smile. I dare anyone to look in her eyes while she smiles at you and not fall in love. Okay, maybe it was the natural high of my first concert, and of being recognised. But I really do think she’s gorgeous beyond compare.

I was incredibly happy that I got this moment. I wanted to say more. Tell her that I love her music, that I thought she deserved her success. And so on. But I’m sure she didn’t want a big speech and I’m not good at talking. So all I manage to say is “good concert”. Immediately I had Homer going in my head. “D’oh”. What was that? “Good concert”. It’s not even a sentence! I wanted to say “That was a great show”. Or “I loved the show”. Or something that made more sense and seemed more thrilled. “Good concert” sounds like I’m a better person than she is and that I sort of tolerate the little show she put on. Hah.

But anyway, I inched away and left the place with a giant smile on my face.

I can’t believe she remembered me. Sure, I’d hoped for exactly this to happen. But still. We were only in the same class for one year. And I probably said 4 words that year. And she’s a big, international music star. The fact that she recognised me and remembered my name. That makes me happy.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though. She still stands to me as one of the sweetest persons I remember. Even back then she was gorgeous, she was popular, she was smart. From my point of view she had everything. And she was still nice to me. The weird geek in the corner who never said anything. Easily ignored I was. Easily ridiculed. Nothing to remember.

One of my nicest memories is from a Latin class when I was grouped with her and her boyfriend (I think he was). And she asked him to quiet down so she could hear what I was saying. That amazed me. A girl wanting to hear me.

I don’t blame all the people who ignored me and never knew I existed. Because that was basically what I was asking for. I remember all the people in that class as being nice, good people. I certainly can’t blame them for how my life went. At that point I was the one withdrawing. I wasn’t being excluded. I was the one excluding myself. But the more alone you are, the more it means to you when people offer you kindness and attention.

So the lesson is: be kind to freaks and geeks and losers and weirdos. They will remember it for years.

Or something. The point is: I have always remembered Tina as a special person and I’m really happy for her. For everything she has accomplished.

I hope she’ll come back and play in Århus soon. I definitely want to see more of her shows. As far as I know she’s still living in London.

Ooh, a review of the concert. That was quick! It’s in Danish though. Four stars out of six. I would give it six out of six, but then I have nothing to compare it with of course.

“Sammenfattende fik hjemmebanen Århus dog en glimrende oplevelse, der bestemt skaber forventninger til fremtiden for en af landets bedste sangskrivere. En fremtid der forhåbentligt byder på et fortjent internationalt gennembrud. ”

“The home turf in Århus got an excellent show, that definitely creates expectations for the future of one of the country’s best songwriters. A future that will hopefully include a well deserved international breakthrough”.

They write about the “festival setting” too. I must agree with that. Too much chitchatter in the background. People coming and going. Annoying. A hushed awe would have been more appropriate.

Also, I hate being short! Darn it. Especially when the people in front of you feel the need to constantly lean in close together and talk. Or light up a cigarette. I should have brought a chair to stand on or something. Would have helped my pictures too. Not surprisingly they all turned out like poo. I’m not sure there’s a single one in proper focus. Once all this festival business is done I’ll put some of them up anyway. For now, here is a picture I snapped after the concert:

050610_tinadickow.jpg

That’s Tina signing my album. With my pen! I’m never going to wash that pen again!

Err. I mean… I’m never going to start washing it.

I think that’s all for now. Sorry if this entry has been a bit rambling. But I am just psyched and stoked and rimbled and goffled. My first concert. Tina remembering me. Seeing Klaus. It has been a good day. It has been a very good day.

This life thing, you know? I kinda like it. It’s finally my time to come out in the sunshine.

dear lasse, for a long time you have been my spiritual adviser. currently i am being indecisive in a situation which requires decision. hence i am here, seeking your guidance. see, there is this job listing on craigslist(.com) for a thinly-veiled prostitution gig (no worries, it’s in-doors, i’m not becoming a street walker…yet) and basically you send in picture of yourself and some contact info/bio and wait to see if they think your fuckability is profitable enough. i’m having a hard time deciding what picture to send in. they’re all shot last week with the digital video camera that i originally bought to track my weight gain/loss/etc and general physical deteriorations. so obviously still captures of the “video” i shot are of rather superbly crappy quality, and on top of that i look kinda like an underage crackwhore with facial spasm issues. so if you can take some time out of your busy schedule of being all happy and upbeat(creepy and boo!) and tell me which one you think i should send that looks least bad, that’d be great. mmkay? since i am apparently not cool enough to know your email address, i can’t email the pictures to you, so i put them in a photobucket thing. the url is um in the box that’s supposed to be my email (instead of website because mail is supposedly private? it better not be published otherwise i ll hunt you down.) password is lassie. p.s. i ll take a picture with your morbid panties idea (i bought super patriotic american flag boy boxers!!) if you promise to bleep out my face, which i guess ruins the whole point, so nevermind.

see, now i have to look up this tina dude on google pictures to see if she warrants your idol worship. (since the picture you took is so crap, i mean, it make her forehead look giant and give her whole head a kind of down syndrome look, you incompetent fool.) she can’t be hotter than paris hilton can she?

Utah, Music And Small Victories

Guess what I did today?

If you have been peeking at my livejournal then you will know.

I went to my first concert ever!

Well, mini-concert. It was an in-store performance. Only 30 minutes or so. I will still think of Tina Dickow tomorrow as my first real concert I think. But this was my first live music experience. In real life. After years and years of listening to live mp3s.

I was sitting at work and decided to check the Spot 11 festival website. And I saw that Utah were playing a little pre-festival performance in Stereo Studio. That’s 10 minutes from where I work. And Utah was one of the bands I had put on my “I might try it” list for the festival. So I figured, why not? It’ll be good practice for my social phobia. It will give me a little taste, a little experience before the real concerts start. And I can practice my minidisc stealth taping.

So I went.

And everything went smoothly. I got there early. Bought some discs for later use and some better microphones that I will try out tomorrow. And then I hung around and waited for the show to start. Watched them set up their equipment. Went around the store and looked at DVDs and CDs.

Then the show started. I didn’t know much about the band. When I looked at the festival program I had checked out their website and downloaded a couple of their MP3s.

They were good live. Maybe it’s just because I was so thrilled at listening to live music finally, but I thought they were very good. Better than I had judged from their MP3s too. I liked their singer, the music was cool. There were some technical difficulties and a constanst stream of costumers, though. So it wasn’t the perfect atmosphere.

But on the other hand it was small and intimate.

And the music… I loved it. I loved the feeling. The physical feeling. The soundwaves. The vibration. When the drums kicked in the first time I was almost forced back. Drums aren’t that powerful when you listen to them through a PC speaker.

It really makes a world of difference. The physical dimension. I’m sure it’s going to be even better tomorrow and Saturday, at the real concerts.

I’m going to have to look at the program and see if I can go listen to Utah again. I would like that. They’re cool.

I bought one of their CDs. They had a stack of EPs that they were selling. They seemed really nice. I should have asked them to autograph the CD I got. They were doing it for others. I just got nervous. Stupid social phobia. Oh well.

The recording went fine as well. There was no security at all, so it was good practice. I guess I can’t expect it to go that well at the real concerts. But now I have made my first live recording. Now I have this on my concert list.

The quality isn’t outstanding of course. But it’s adequate. Good enough to listen to. I haven’t listened to it all yet. At one point I was walking around in the store to get to a better position to take some pictures. And I forgot to mind the microphone, so that’ll probably be messy. But it makes me happy that I am a taper now, haha.

And it makes me happy that I have experienced live music. And it makes me want more. Much more. Music has been a very important part of my life the last decade or so, it’s only going to get more important.

I’ll show you the pictures now. They aren’t too good. Like I said the other day, I still haven’t mastered indoor photography with the new camera. And the venue was hard, it was cramped and I’m not the kind of guy who will push his way to the front. So the pictures were taken from afar and from bad angles. Still, at least I did get some taken. These are the things I want to remember, my small victories. I have had some good ones lately. The reception at work. The cinema. The parade. Today. And festival coming tomorrow. I’m doing sort of okay, aren’t I?

But here are some pictures.

Utah, the rising stars.

A good day, today. I hope tomorrow will go well too. My first real concert. With my former classmate Tina Dickow/Dico. If I can avoid problems then that should be a brill time.

Oh yes, Mew have been added to the Spot festival. Oh my. Mew is one of my favourite bands. I would love, love to see them. Unfortunately they play at 0:45. That’s late. I will be tired. Mentally and physically. And the place will be packed, they are easily the biggest name of the festival. I can’t even be sure I can get in. So, I might skip that. I will have other chances to see Mew. In proper concerts, where I can buy a ticket and know for sure that I can get in. I think I’d prefer that. But I’ll see how I feel Saturday night. If the other concerts have gone great and I’m high on musical energy then I might give it a go anyway.

The plan is still to see Tina Dickow on Friday and then Peter Sommer + Carpark North on Saturday. Utah and Mikael Simpson being likely posibilities. And then I’ll see.

Wish me locke.
