I Can’t Believe You Don’t Shut Up

Happy birthday to my mother. Fifty years old. That’s like… half a century, almost.

I managed to get the Willie Nelson CDs done. Unfortunately our printer sucks so the result don’t look too good. And why not take a picture to make them look even worse?

050722_willienelson

There ya go. Just a general impression. On the computer monitor I think they look really good actually. It makes me want to make mix CDs again so I can make more covers, haha.

“You would think it was bought in a store”. Said my dad. Haha. He doesn’t buy many CDs in stores I guess. But my mother was happy with them. My mother, my father and my grandfather. They were all very impressed. That’s great. It makes me happy to do something nice like this. We’re not the tightest, perfectest family. Doing something nice to surprise my mother, that’s good. I feel like a good son, for once.

Yes, my grandad is here. That’s nice too. He had that stroke recently, you might remember. He is looking even older and more frail than ever. I’m glad I’ve gotten to say hi to him. It may sound morbid, but you never know if I’d get another chance. He can’t travel much and neither can I, yet. When my grandmother died I hadn’t seen her for years. At least that won’t happen again.

We had more visitors earlier, my mother’s brother and his wife. It makes me a little stressed when people come in our house. It’s supposed to be my safe place. Where I can be myself and hide away if I need it. But it has just been one day, I shan’t complain.

Methinks I shan’t.

Went to the playground too. Per told me that they had pictures from the animal show up. You remember the animal show? When I won the first prize with Magnethe. When I got the gold medal. You remember the gold medal, right? The gold medal? Okay. Well, he told me that they had hung them up on the wall inside. So I went in and checked them out. Fun. And Magnethe followed me inside hehe. Then I went outside and I heard Alice (It’s a good thing I have a cast section, eh?) inside going “Magnethe, you’re not supposed to be in here”. And then I heard some kind of ruckuss, a bang. There are workers inside still, it sounded like some of their equipment fell on the floor maybe. And then Magnethe came sprinting out, baahing her little heart out. Such a cutie. She looks funny when she runs too. She swirls her head around, as if it gains her momentum. Maybe it does. It’s cute. Mads does it too I think. Not sure about Mathilde. I saw them all running today. There was a big truck that pulled into the playground. To heist out their big container, full of hay and junk I think. Anyway, a big noisy machine. That’s not something the goats like. As soon as the truck pulled out again they saw their chance to run as fast as they could, out on the horses’ field. Far away from the big noisy machine.

Now I must go. Get back to work on my fantabulous contraption that stops time. I have two days to get it done before vacation runs out. Where is Rambaldi when you need him?

On The Road Again

A nice day today. I got up fairly early and went and got my hair cut.

You know you’re lonely when having a girl cut your hair is the closest thing you’ve had to physical contact in 6 months.

Hey, she was like stroking my hair. That’s intimate.

After that I went to the playground. It was raining, so the goats were standing under a roof. I sat down on some wooden boards and had my fun with them.

A little later on three girls came to see the horses in their stables. I noticed they were looking over at me several times. I didn’t think that was odd. After all I am not unappreciative of the fact that a grown man sitting with three goats is sort of… not normal.

A little more later on they came over to me. And we talked for a bit. They asked me if it didn’t hurt when Mads was ramming his horns into me. I told them it didn’t. Mathilde does it too. If she thinks I have apples in my pocket then she’ll start ramming into my side, pushing me almost. I’m not sure if her tactic is “If I push really hard here then some apple slices are bound to fall out”. Or if it’s “If I push really hard here then he’ll think I’m the cutest thing ever and he’ll give me apple slices”. In any case it works, it just makes me giggle. And if I have apples then she gets them. Clever girl.

Anyway, it was nice talking to the girls. Mads was being very in-your-face. Something like this. He’ll rub his head up and down, even try to lick my face. The girls loved that. “Oooh he’s being all cuddly”. “Heehee he’s kissing you”. Sweet. Eventually two of the girls left, the last girl was the one most interested in the goats. She sat down with me for a while.

Socializing can be nice.

I’m going to have to do some of it tomorrow. It’s my mother’s 50th birthday. We weren’t actually going to do anything special. But then we almost had a family feud with her brother and his family. And long story short, now they’re coming tomorrow. They’ll all be going out to dinner. I’m not going to go. But they will be at our house too so it’s not like I’m completely avoiding it. There will be 5-6 people that I haven’t seen for years. That will be a lot for me already. Also, I’m most likely going to go see FC Barcelona train at Atletion stadium. Unless I’m too tired or the weather is too horrible. But I’ll probably go, so that will be a big day with lots to deal with.

Usually we don’t make a big deal out of the presents. Normally my mother would just buy something for herself and I’d reimburse. Sweet eh? This year I’m making the presents myself. I’m making her two CDs. Willie Nelson live concerts. She likes Willie a lot. I don’t know how much she’ll like the live shows, she’s not into live music the way I am. But she will listen to live music if the quality is good enough. So I hope she’ll like the CDs. It’s the thought that counts anyway. It’s been fun to make the CD covers. I think they turned out pretty brilliantly. Only problem is that our printer is out of ink. My dad has said that he’ll go buy some printer ink tomorrow morning, so I can print them out while they all go out and celebrate. Hopefully it won’t look too bad when printed.

I feel like I’m 8 years old. “Look mum I made you something!”. Homemade presents are always the best. Right?

On another note, I got a comment from an old classmate on my “google search” entry. Sureka. The supermodel. She google-searched her own name and found my entry about google-searching. Fun. She’s studying film in South Africa. Hasn’t been back in Denmark in 4 years. Wow. But that was kind of what I was hoping for with that entry too, getting in touch with old classmates. Fascinating.

Now if only I knew who it was that found my blog by searching for Stefan’s name…

Finally we shall finish with pictures from yesterday. Don’t forget I’d still like comments on the gallery.

050720_mathilde

Mathilde is a sweet girl. She isn’t all innocent though. She will sometimes have a go at the sheeps. So you know you’re in trouble when this happens:

050720_mathildewhite

She got caught up in White’s leash. And couldn’t get away. I managed to separate them before they got in a big tangle though.

Magnethe is starting to be more confident around Mads. Yesterday she even faced him when he tried to ram her. Instead of running away.

050720_magnethemads1

050720_magnethemads2

050720_magnethemads3

050720_magnethemads4

Look at my brave little girl. She was doing the “jump up high to intimidate the opponent” thing too. Must have learned it from Mathilde.

But chiefly she is still a cutie par excellence.

050720_magnetheroll

I love it when they get down and roll around and sort of press themselves into the ground like they’re trying to dig themselves down. They know how to get comfy.

And that’s the end of that episode.

Gallery Moderne

Allow me to proudly present: plume.dk/gallery! Finally done. Finally plume.dk has a a picture section.

It currently holds more than 2000 pictures. Almost every one I have ever taken. Now I don’t expect anyone to look through all that. But I have wasted a lot of time on this (literally, I lost a week’s work in some digital accident), so I would appreciate it if some of y’all would take a look at it. Maybe tell me what you think. Good, bad, lukewarm. That would be nice.

Let’s celebrate the gallery with a picture of Magnethe:

050720_magnethenose

Look, she has a boxer’s nose!

I don’t know how many people actually click the pictures to see the bigger versions, but from now on if you click the thumb then you get taken to the big picture in the gallery. So if you want to leave a comment on a picture then you can do it there. Very handy. *nudge-nudge*

In other news, I am disappointed to hear that Smirnoff Ice apparently isn’t vodka? What the hey is a malt beverage? It says vodka mix. It just… sounds so much cooler to say you’re drinking vodka. Hah. But don’t nobody worry, I’m not turning alcoholic. I promise. A Bacardi Breezer here, a Smirnoff Ice there. Won’t even get me drunk.

That is all for today. My vacation is running out, slowly. I’m not going to think about that though. Tomorrow I’m going to go get a haircut. On Friday I’m going to go see FC Barcelona train at Atletion, the Aarhus stadium. Monday I’ll see Tina Dickow at the autograph session. Yes, it’s all good.

All good.

Beam Me Up, Scotty

Star Trek’s Scotty, James Doohan, dead at 85

I never really got into the original Star Trek series. Mainly because it wasn’t broadcast in Denmark when it came out. Eventually, much later, some of it was shown in Denmark and I watched it with a strange mix of curiosity and giddiness. But you can imagine what it’s like to have watched The Next Generation later series and then going back to the original series. It looks very old and quaint compared. Nonetheless I’m a big fan of all things Starry, be it Trek or Wars, and who doesn’t love Scotty?

If heaven needs an engineer, then I think they have found their man.

Quotable Scotty.

The Princess Of My Heart

I bought some more vodka. I think maybe alcohol is the solution to all my problems.

You can’t fault that logic!

Also, I realized something today. Magnethe’s birthday is almost the same as mine. I’mg going through the gallery still. The first pictures of her are from March 18th. My birthday is March 15th. She was only a few days old when I first saw her. So I’d imagine her birthday must be around the 16th. If not the 15th even. Isn’t that something?

Speaking of Magnethe, she’s getting her own folder in my gallery. She’s just so lovely, she deserves a special place.

050718_magnethe.jpg

You may think it’s silly that I love her so much. But she sort of represents the good in my life. The happiness I have found. She has been a big part of that. Not just by being cute and wonderful but also by giving me the chance to talk to people at the playground. Having fun with the kids. And talking to Kurt, the guy who owns the animals. Everybody just loves Magnethe so much that it makes everything easier. It comes natural.

So she has done a lot for me. And of course, she’s super cute.

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

I just lost about a week’s worth of work on my gallery. Down the drain. Puff of smoke. Disappeared into bites and bits.

What-EVER.

I’ll redo it without descriptions. That won’t take too long. And no one is going to look through all the pictures anyway so no one will miss the descriptions.

Except me. Oh well.

I wish I had more vodka.

If you’re my livejournal friend then I suggest you go there cause I made a friends-only post and it’s beautiful.

Beautiful Freak

I’m drinking vodka. I kid you not.

Smirnoff Ice. It’s the best alkyhol I have ever had I think. But then I have not ever had that much.

Working on my gallery. Doing the 2005 section now. Putting up pictures from my vacation with Skye. You know, the one where we broke up. Very odd. I have had those pictures lying around for 6 months, not knowing what to do with them. Not wanting to look at them. But now was the time. To get them resized and retouched and uploaded. It gave me a very strange feeling. Like I was right back there in our vacation house. Alone in the Netherlands. Lonesome.

But it was okay. I am glad to have the memories. The good as well as the bad. I don’t want to forget.

Let me introduce you to my new song love:

James Blunt – You’re Beautiful
—-

My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I’m sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won’t lose no sleep on that,
‘Cause I’ve got a plan.

You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.
You’re beautiful, it’s true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don’t know what to do,
‘Cause I’ll never be with you.

Yeah, she caught my eye,
As we walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
Fucking high,
And I don’t think that I’ll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.

You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.
You’re beautiful, it’s true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don’t know what to do,
‘Cause I’ll never be with you.

You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.
You’re beautiful, it’s true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it’s time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

—

Best chorus ever. I want to sing it to all the girls I know. You’re beautiful, it’s true. I know way too many girls who aren’t happy with themselves. “These are too small”, “that is too big”. “This thing is crooked”. And it goes for all of them that they are beautiful but they have a hard time seeing it.

Not that I don’t know how hard it is to accept yourself. I wish someone had told me that I was beautiful. White lies save lives.

Mmm that’s good vodka.

Tina Again

Tina Dickow is coming to Århus again. Her new album will be released on the 25th, and she’s doing a signing session at Stereo Studio. Ten minutes away from my work. On the first day after my vacation is over. That’s handy. I’ll go buy the new album, In The Red, and get it signed. And I’ll get to say hi to Tina again. Exellent. I hope my camera will be fixed by then, I’d really like to get an audio/visual clip of her.

In any case, I’m looking forward to it. Tina is the best.

Hmm, I think I’m going to bring my old “schooltimer”. It’s a little publication thing from highschool, it has photos of all the classes. I still have mine, from 1994 I think. Would be fun to have her sign our class picture, right? I still want to scan it some time. Proof that I went to school with her.

I’m all excited! I get to see Tina! Wheeee. Maybe I could get someone to take a picture of me with her… ah well, I’m not sure I would dare to do that. I would settle for less anyway. Just saying hi and getting an autograph, that would make my day.

Be Alarmed

I love having vacation. The ultimate feeling of freedom is the ability to ignore the alarm clock in the morning. Punching the snooze button 5 times in a row. In vacation the alarm clock is like Superman in a room full of Kryptonite. A weak impersonation of former glory.

Re-enactment of my morning:

Riiing.

“ZZzzzzzz”

Riiiiiiiiiiing.

“Aaaah. Zzzzzzzz”

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.

“I wonder if I should get up now? Naaah. Zzzzzzzzzzzz”.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.

“Foolish appliance, you have no power over me. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz”.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.

“Did you hear something? I didn’t hear anything! I guess it was nothing then. ZZZZZzzzzzzzz”.

And yet I know… the clock will take horrible revenge on me when vacation runs out. Because you know, Superman always survives. Somehow he escapes the Kryptonite and comes back in full force.

I am the villain of the story. No matter how cool I am, I live on borrowed time. The good guys always win in the end.

Okay, enough Superman/alarm clock metaphors. It’s getting stupid. Speaking of sleep though, I think it’s interesting that my dreams are full of celebrities. Lenny Kravitz. Emilie de Ravin. The leadsinger of Maroon 5. Interesting. Not so strange though. Seeing as I have virtually no social life. Especially here in the vacation. I see very few people. So instead the TV and movie stars populate my dreams.

And I like it like that.

I don’t like that my camera is still out for repairs. I called today, but the girl from the call center said she couldn’t see anything. She would tell the store in Århus to call me and let me know what was going on. So now I’m waiting for that. Grumble. I miss it. But at least my old cam is still acceptable.

I’m still working on my gallery. Doing pictures from 2004 now. That was a big year for me. Odd to look back at it. The Reva center, the hospital business, Kulturgyngen. And discovering the playground. The first pictures of Mads and Mathilde. Little did I know how much they would come to mean to me. Interesting to look back on.

In other good news: my internet upgrade kicked in today. 4000/700. That’s good broadband!

And then I had a nice time at the playground. I brought a plastic bag full of carrot and apple slices. Wanted to spoil my goats. But I didn’t get to give them much. There was group of kids who wanted to feed the goats, so I ended up giving them most of the apples and carrots.

050713_kids1.jpg

050713_kids2.jpg

050713_kids3.jpg

It was still fun though. Like I said yesterday, it’s very sweet to see the kids have fun with the animals. “Is it dangerous?”, “can I pet it?”, “can I feed it”, “Mads really loves you”. Animals make everyone happy, not least kids. There was a girl who didn’t speak Danish, so I spoke to her in English. She was probably 9-10 years old but her English was as good as mine. They were all nice, the kids. I’m happy that I can help them get to know the goats. I wish someone had done that for me when I was a kid. Animal contact would have done me good.

050713_madsmum.jpg

050713_magnethe2.jpg

How can you not love them?

050713_magnethe1.jpg

It almost looks like a little beard on Magnethe, doesn’t it? She’s so cute.

050713_mathildesnooping.jpg

And Mathilde found the secret food stash. Those goats will get in anywhere. And apparently pig food is yummy too.

050713_misspiggy.jpg

I heard that Miss Piggy is pregnant. So I guess we’ll get cute little pigglies soon. She was taking a nice nap here. Her real name is Yvonne.

Now I’m off to work on the gallery. See you laterz.

  2. Katherine Says:

I love that the pig is named Yvonne. It’s just very Jollity Farm. And Magnethe is as beautiful as ever. Animal names are so much better than people names…

Here are the lyrics to Jollity Farm (by the Bonzododadog Band)

Theres a farm called Misery, but of that well have none
    Because we know of one
Thats always lots of fun (Ha ha!)
And this ones name is Jollity; believe me, folks, its great

For everything sings out to us as we go through the gate
All the little pigs, they grunt and howl
    (Grunt, howl, grunt, howl)
    The cats mee-yow
    (Mee-yow, mee-yow)
    The dogs bow-wow
    (Ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff)
    Everybody makes a row
    Down on Jollity Farm

All the little birds go tweet, tweet, tweet
    (birdsong, piano noodle)
    The lambs all bleat
    (baaaaa!)
    And shake their feet
    (rattle)
    Everythings a perfect treat
    Down on Jollity Farm

    Regular as habit
    The cocks begin to crow
Can the old buck rabbit sing “Stuff it up your jumper”
    Voh-doh-deh-oh

All the little ducks go quack quack quack
    (quack quack quack)
    The cows go Moo
    (honk)
    The bull does, too
    (whonk!)
Everyone says how do you do
    Down on Jollity Farm
