My Blog Is A Fickle Blog

So let me tell you about Friday and Mew.

Only my fifth concert ever. And the first one in a “real” concert venue. I was packing my camera and minidisc when my mother said “You’re not bringing those are you?”. She pointed my attention to the ticket where it said that no recording devices were allowed, picture or sound. So there I was with 10 minutes to go before I had to leave for the bus. Wondering what I should do. I’ve heard stories from America, mostly from the Smashing Pumpkins community, about stealth taping and hiding your gear in your underpants and whatnot. I wasn’t sure if I should leave my stuff at home, if I should try and conceal it somewhere on my body or if I should just hope for the best. I ended up with a combination of the last two. Not really hiding my stuff, but arranging it all so that if I was going to be faced by a giant, angry controller then I would be able to con my way in. Or die trying.

I was pretty nervous in the bus though. Going over what to say if I got caught and all that jazz. But it turned out to be no problem at all. Sort of like I was hoping. I didn’t get patted down. The controllers just stood there and looked at people as far as I could tell. And once I got inside the security guards didn’t give a damn whether people were taking pictures. And I wore my microphone very visibly on my shirt without anyone commenting on that either. So no worries. I don’t know how big bootlegging is in Denmark. I kinda get the idea that venues and controllers aren’t even aware that there might be people wanting to tape. Or maybe I’ve just been lucky and encountered lax security.

It’s a little scary that I could have brought in a bomb or a gun though. Wouldn’t have been a problem. But no bombs in that show, luckily.

There were a lot of people. I took my spot out by the wall. I just don’t feel comfortable in the middle of the crowd yet. Plus I like taking pictures and making videos and that’s probably harder if you’re right in the center, surrounded by people.

I was trying to estimate how many people there were. I guessed 3-400 people. Hah. I read in the paper the next day that there had been 2500. That’s a lot of people, don’t you think? Especially for a guy who has problems being in a room with 5 people, let alone 2500.

But I felt okay. I think I have gotten to the point where my social phobia isn’t really a problem as long as I don’t have to have direct interaction with people. Being in crowds isn’t a problem anymore. So that’s good.

And then Press Play On Tape kicked off. And that was awesome. But scroll down to the previous entry to read about that.

When they were done I figured Mew would be right out. But half an hour later the stage was set up for Blue Foundation. Now I don’t have a lot of stamina, I’m not too fit. And I’m not a partying dance-maniac. So when they started playing I was getting really tired, my head was throbbing and I just wanted Mew to start. When they said that they had two songs left of their set then I thought “But your songs are so loooong”. Hehe. This isn’t meant to be a review of Blue Foundation, I just couldn’t appreciate them much under the circumstances. They were pretty good, but I wanted Mew.

Blue Foundation picture album. With all of three crappy pictures. I should delete them really, but I kinda like to have an album for every show I’ve seen.

When they were done there was another half hour or so where the stage was set up for Mew. And then it was time. Mew exploded onstage. And they were great. Better than the first time I saw them. Mainly because I knew the new songs better and then because of the venue and crowd.

I love Mew. As you might have noticed by my entries recently. I will once again recommend that you check them ought. Any way you can. Their music is amazing. It’s full of beauty. It reminds me a little of the Smashing Pumpkins in the way that there is slow and fast, loud and quiet. Little poppy choruses and long, drawn-out instrumental passages.

They get critized for not being very good live. I disagree with that. They have such an amazing stage show, with brilliant visuals in the background. But that also limits them a little because they have to “follow” the visuals. So there isn’t a lot of room for improvisation, jumping around and changing setlists. I think that’s why some people think they’re boring live, that you might as well listen to their CDs instead. But if you take it all in, the visuals and the music. I really think it’s wonderful. If you ever get the chance to see Mew, you should.

I love the way the music flows together. Their new CD is like one long symphony, all the tracks flow together. And live they have the same thing, only with songs from their older albums too. All flowing together. Like one massive river of sound.

It works so well. I’m pretty much in awe. That this is a Danish band. That we can do this. Puny, little Denmark.

Let’s take a little timeout with pictures.

Complete Mew album. With more of the same.

At one point during the concert a girl poked me on the shoulder and leaned in to say something to me. I couldn’t hear what she said, the music was so loud. I just sort of shook my head and pointed to my ears. And then she nodded and turned back to her friends. I really have no idea what it was all about. I think she might have been asking if it was bothering me that she was talking to her friends right next to me. But since I couldn’t hear anything I obviously wasn’t bothered.

For all I know she could have been asking me if I liked to insert jalapenos in my anus. And then she would think that my response was “no, but I like inserting them in my ears” when I pointed there. Hah. And she would nod, because everybody like jalapenos in their ears.

She was cute though. Maybe she was asking me out. You never know. It could happen.

There were a lot of cute girls there. It’s sort of baffling when you’re not used to being around people. Or girls. Or cute girls. In party clothes. It makes you realize how utterly, deeply, completely lonely you are as you’re standing alone by the wall and everyone else is dancing and drinking and screaming. I still have a ways to go before I’m a normal concert goer.

But I’m getting there at least.

And I loved the show, obviously. There is nothing like being alive in the music. It’s too bad about the Sony minidisc transfer thing. Because right now I feel like going to loads of concerts to make loads of recordings and have loads of fun. But I can still have fun of course. Tomorrow I’m going to see if I can get tickets to Kashmir. November 9th. It’s an extra date because the 10th is sold out. I like Kashmir. Not as much as Mew, but enough to want to go and have a good time. And I want to go to some shows at work too. Gyngen. I can get in for free. And I can practice taping. And practice the social things. You know that ain’t bad.

Oh and also it should be noted that I have had two comments and one email from the Press Play On Tape guys after I signed their tagwall. It just goes to show that not only are they the best Commodore 64 revival band in the world, they are also jolly nice guys. It made me all kinds of happy.

There you go. For the love of music. Or should I say Mewsic? I shouldn’t? I should shut the hell up?

Okay then.

Concert colours rock! So much movement and electricity.

A lot of cool has emerged from Denmark in film, literature, and art, so it’s no surprise Denmark produces mega talent musically too…

It’s amazing how your courage has accelerated and at the same time you’re the same real person you’ve always been. Humble, grateful, thoughtful, introspective. It’s wonderful to see you enjoying events.

I could see you doing photo-journalism essays about concerts because you’re observant and knowledgeable and have a unique writing style.

Press Play On Tape

I have a lot of stuff backlogged. Work stuff. Playground stuff. Mew stuff. But while I’m working on getting all that ready for posting I thought I would just write an entry on the first opening act from the Mew concert on Friday.

Press Play On Tape (official site).

I wasn’t actually expecting any opening acts. It didn’t say anything on the ticket about it. It hadn’t said anything on billetnet, where I bought the ticket. So I was pretty much expecting Mew to go straight on. I guess that was naive of me. And I was a little puzzled when the show started with simple digital noises and the words:

In 1982 the world saw.. the Commodore 64.
In 1986 the world heard it as well.

And then it launched into the Commando tune. Anyone remember Commando? I played that game to death when I was a kid. It was quite surreal to hear that coming from the speakers. I thought to myself: “Hmm what’s this? I thought Mew started their shows with Circuitry Of The Wolf / Chinaberry Tree. Is this some kind of new opening?”.

And then the Commando theme tune turned into the Commando theme tune with heavy guitars and blasting rocksounds.

Wow.

One of the coolest things I have ever experienced. I had never heard of Press Play On Tape. I didn’t know there was such a thing as Commodore 64 concept rock. I know now. And the world is a better place for it.

It was so much fun. So cool. And to boot, it was really good music. And I loved their whole “ultimate nerd” act. And the boy band, the gameboy band. The Nik & Jay of nerdism. Wonderful. And of course their videos playing in the background. Old Commodore games. Oh man. It may not be a stage show on the level of Mew, but it was damn good anyway. Especially just the old Commodore 64 basic screen. Beautiful!

It pretty much blew my mind. Their performance only lasted some 25-30 minutes. Too bad. I would pay good money to see them do a longer show. I’m not sure how serious they are about their music. From their website it looks like they don’t play that often. But if you’re opening for Mew then you really ought to seize the chance to get a breakthrough with your music. Because Commodore 64 rock is a concept that bloody rules, it does. They finished off with Monkey Island. Monkey Island! Okay, it’s an Amiga game. But still. Best game ever. It’s not more than a month ago or so that I loaded up Curse of Monkey Island for the first time and got all nostalgic from listening to the theme song. And now, Monkey Island rock! It rocked. Oh my gosh.

When they were done playing they said that they would go to the merchandise shop and sell CDs and chat. Now me being the concert newbie I thought I had to stay where I was and keep my place because Mew would be right out. That was at 20.30 I think. Mew wasn’t on before 22.00. There was another warmup act. Blue Foundation. They were good, but not really my style and I was tired and my head starting to hurt. I wish I’d gone out to the merchandise shop. I want PPOT’s CD. I must have it. Luckily it seems you can order it from their website, so I’ll definitely do that. Their first CD is sold out though. Bummer. I want all the Commodore 64 rock I can get.

Oh here’s their set (copied from their website, all rights belong to them)

Commando
Ghosts’n Goblins
Arkanoid
Comic Bakery *** new boy band arrangement
Warhawk
Phantom of the Asteroid
Das Gamer
Monkey Island (main and Le’Chuck’s theme)

Sweeet.

Here are some pictures.

You can see all the Press Play On Tape pictures in this album. Mew and Blue Foundation pictures will come when I get those sorted out. I wish I could take better pictures at concerts. But remember, I’m short and social phobic. It makes it harder. Plus I still have to learn to use my new camera properly. So much I want to do, so little time. Or something.

I heartily recommend that you visit Press Play On Tape’s site. You can download some videos and MP3s there. Amongst others you can get Monkey Island. So do that. I haven’t listened to the one on their site yet, but it rocked live.

Speaking of recording live music on my Sony walkman/netMD minidisc recorder. I hate Sony. With a passion. Turns out that I can’t transfer music from my minidisc to my computer. Well I hope I can find a way around it, might have to settle for analogue transfer. But I really can’t believe that you can’t just copy the music you have recorded yourself through a microphone onto your computer. Copyright protection my ass.

Of course in this instance it doesn’t matter so much because I messed the recording up. I only got 2-3 minutes of the PPOT’s Commando starter. That’s all. No Mew. Which sucks because I bought (minorly) expensive microphones and I had no problem with security. I think I could have actually made a good recording. But then, I probably wouldn’t have been able to transfer it. You’re damned if you do, you’re damned if you don’t.

I did make some nice videoclips of both PPOT and Mew though. I’ll have to see what to do with those.

Once in a while life will throw you a nice surprise. Press Play On Tape was definitely one.

I miss my Commodore 64. Emulation just ain’t the same.

C64 4ever.

Nice Blog!! You might not be very tall, or know how to use your recording equipment, but you are a really good writer :-). And you actually got a picture of me from the event – no one else did, hidden behind my drumkit as I was most of the time.

We’re glad you liked it. We sure did as well :-)

    Hi Plume

Thanks for the nice write up from the guitarist with the least hair and the purple guitar :) It’s great for us when we can re-kindle that old nostalgia for the wonderful C64 music. And, judging by the looks of some of the other members of the audience while we were performing, people too young to remember the C64 enjoyed the music as well. That’s a testament to the quality of some of the music.

I’ve looked through some of you blog entries, and I must say that I’m very impressed with your struggle to overcome your disabilities. I’m well acquainted with serious disability within in my immediate family, so I can really appreciate your struggle. It seems to me that you’re doing well and moving in the right direction. Keep up the good work, you have my best wishes.

Pink Monster

Wow. Just got back from Mew. I love being able to go to concerts. When I get down and I think that life isn’t getting better then I just have to remind myself that I am now able to go to concerts. Six months ago I wasn’t. Don’t tell me things don’t get better.

Mew rocked. They are probably my favourite band of the moment, so seeing them live was fan-bloody-tastic. And I stayed for Comforting Sounds. There’s nothing like swaying back and forth to a 15-minute outro. Oh yeah.

I shall write more about it all when I come down. But let me just mention the first warmup act. Press Play On Tape. A Commodore 64 concept rock band. There is no part of that sentence that I don’t love. Man oh man, that was awesome. They finished off with Monkey Island. I’m not sure that came out for the Commodore 64? But I’ll forgive that. Because it was awesome. Awesome. They had Commodore 64 videos playing on a screen behind them. Awesome. I loved it. It was almost better than Mew.

But then not. Because Mew is the best.

And now I’m so tired that I don’t even know if I can finish thi

To Be Or Snot To Be

I wrote poetry on the bus today. On my way home from work. Don’t ask me why. There was just a line in my head. So I wrote it down, and kept writing.

How poetic of me.

It was nice, though. I like writing. Playing with words. Maybe I should take poetry up again. Try and write about the past. Some of the underlying emotions. Some of the things that I have to deal with in therapy too. Writing is good therapy. I remember those years ago when I was isolated, sad and bitter. It helped to write poetry. The result doesn’t matter, it’s the process that’s important. I probably couldn’t write that crappy teen-angst stuff anymore. The things I wrote on the bus were in Danish too. Doesn’t mean they don’t suck. Just in different ways.

I love self-deprecation.

If you like writing, shouldn’t you write?

Someone on Livejournal suggested that the piglet with the eyebrows should be named Groucho. Haha. I love that.

Shake It Like A Polaroid

So. The Fight Club. From a couple of days ago.

051006_magnethevsmathilde1_th.jpg

Magnethe and Mathilde.

051006_magnethevsmathilde2_th.jpg

Going at it.

And then

051006_magnethevsmads1_th.jpg

Mads and Magnethe.

051006_magnethevsmads2_th.jpg

Duking it out.

There’s a very very funny video here. It’s a big one though. But I recommend it if you want the goat fight club. It starts off with Magnethe and Mathilde going at it. And you’ll notice that Magnethe is the instigator most of the time. Mathilde doesn’t seem too interested in duelling, she’s picking leaves from the ground etc. But Magnethe likes it. I wonder if it’s all play or if she has gotten so big that she’s actually challenging Mathilde for position in the flock. I don’t know.

After a while of Magnethe vs Mathilde then Mads gets a little tired of it I think. So he butts in. Literally. And then Mads and Mathilde square off. And then after that Magnethe takes on Mads. So it’s one long sequence where all of the goats are taking turns with each other. Fun stuff.

She could be a champion fighter, Magnethe. She may looks innocent…

051010_magnethe_th.jpg

But don’t let it fool you. She’ll go for the knockout.

The playground is my fun spot. Here’s Olga again:

051010_olga_th.jpg

The new sheep. Doesn’t she look pregnant? I can’t help but hope. I gotta remember to ask the adults about it sometime.

Animal babies are always great. Like the piglets.

051011_pigletmum_th.jpg

It’s amazing that something so tiny and adorable can come from something so big and massive. They’re a lot of fun. They run around, seeming all confused. And like they don’t have complete control of their legs. Jumping running, bouncing into each other. And would you look at this guy:

051011_eyebrows1.jpg

He has spots over his eyes. It looks like he has eyebrows! Hehe.

051011_eyebrows2.jpg

That is too funny.

051011_eyebrows3.jpg

I have never seen that before.

Had fun with the kids today too. One of them took this with my camera.

051011_madsme_th.jpg

I like myself better when I’m with the goats. I know it’s strange, but they mean a lot to me. And I am fine with that.

One of the boys asked if the pictures would be in the newspaper. That’s happened before, hehe. I told him some of them would be on my website. Spelled out the address for him, so who knows they might be reading along now. Don’t know how much English they understand. Men hej, drenge!

The sound Magnethe makes when she sees me makes me smile inside.

I had a sweet moment with Mathilde. I had my hand held out and she sort of rubbed her face against it. It probably wasn’t a conscious gesture, but it was like she was mimicking what I do when I stroke her face. Very sweet.

Oh and I taught Mads how to poke. You know, like Mathilde and Magnethe. It’s better for me. If he wants food then I prefer being poked than being rammed down. He’s stronger than the others.

I had apple slices in my pocket. And I would hold out on him until he started poking me. And then quickly give him a slice. Didn’t take long before he realized that poking was the best way to get treats.

And then Pernille walked by and saw it. “Are you teaching him to shake hands?”. Hehe. She said I could do that for next year’s animal show. Good idea.

Now I’m tired. I’m going to go fight the moonlight.

Olga And The Time Machine

Alritey then. Time to reveal the newest animal at the playground. And the winner is…

Katherine. With a sheep. Allow myself to introduce Olga.

051006_olga_th.jpg

Olga the sheep. It’s only a few days ago that I said I wished we’d get some sheepies again. I got my wish. She seems like a nice sheep, I’m looking forward to getting to know her better. Also, I’m hoping that she’s pregnant. It would make sense that she’s come to the playground to have lambs. That would be so great. I’d love to see some lil lambies. I still miss Black and White.

Speaking of White, when I first saw Olga I actually thought it was a grownup White who’d come back. Not because of how she looks, but how she sounds. She has a hoarse, cracking voice. You might remember how White always used to make me laugh because his voice was cracking. He sounded like a spotty teenager. Haha. Just thinking of it makes me smile.

And Olga makes me smile too, so that’s a good sign.

The new piglets make me smile as well. So let’s have a bunch of pictures of them, thankyouverymuch.

051006_piglets1_th.jpg

051006_piglets2_th.jpg

051006_piglets3_th.jpg

051006_piglets4_th.jpg

051007_piglets_th.jpg

I posted these on some livejournal communities and everyone seem to love them. Especially the spotted ones. I remember the first time I saw little spotty piglets too, quite amazing.

I made a new video of them too. Where they are suckling from Mrs Piggy. If that’s what it’s called. It’s quite funny. One of the piglets gets confused and starts climbing up on top of her. Hilarity ensues.

Anyway, more pictures why don’t you.

051007_boys_th.jpg

Future gangsta rappers of Denmark.

The playground is a great place for kids. All kids should have access to animals and green pastures. They also get to have responsibilities. Like taking care of their own hamsters or bunnies. Or just doing general work at the grounds.

051007_girl1_th.jpg

051007_girl2_th.jpg

Girls sweeping. I like how they’re wearing those inline skate thingies while they sweep. That’s skillz.

Of course the adults have to handle the heavier work on their own.

051007_perkurt_th.jpg

Like… uhm. Cementing the roof. Or whatever they’re doing there. Something with a blowtorch anyway.

Remember the little, tiny, tweeting chickens?

051007_chicken_th.jpg

I wonder where the little yellow one is? I don’t really want to think about that though, because I can’t come up with any good answers. But the remaining chicken is still tweeting all the day.

Mathilde has learnt a new trick. I have mentioned before that sometimes when she knows I have food then she’ll sort of butt into me, push me. Try to get her nose into my pockets. But she has picked up a trick from Magnethe. I have mentioned that too. Magnethe likes to poke me when she knows I have food. I’ll be sitting next to her and she’ll reach out a leg and poke me. It’s very cute. “Give me food” *poke-poke* “give me foooood” *poke-poke-poke*. And yes, Mathilde has started poking me too.

051007_mathildepoke1_th.jpg

Just like Magnethe does it.

051007_mathildepoke2_th.jpg

Don’t tell me goats aren’t intelligent. They learn from each other. That’s rather smart.

I love the way they recognise me. The way they baah when they see me. They don’t just go around baahing all the time, you know. They are very quiet actually. They almost never say anything. Only when they’re tied down, then they complain a lot. But when they’re not tied then they are always quiet. Only exceptions are if Mathilde gets in a scrap with Mads. Then she’ll baah in objection. And then when they recognise people. I know Mads recognises this guy:

051007_guymads_th.jpg

When he sees that guy then he baahs a little. I’m the only one I’ve seen them come running to though. And Magnethe baahs so loudly when she sees me, it’s great. It feels sort of amazing, that I can provoke such a reaction from her. And it’s instinctive. It’s not like she sees me, looks at me and then baahs. She sees me and just baahs immediately. I love it alot.

051007_madsme_th.jpg

We see eye to eye.

Sorry.

That’s all for today. May smiles rain upon you like kisses from the stars.

Coming up next: Fight Club!

Been looking kinda off in space, so I just thought to poke you, enough of that daydreaming! Let’s go get goofy in the playground’ :)))

yeap, it’s so true Katherine, dogs just love that. but the problem is, that my dog thinks it’s ok to poke people in their behinds and other places, plus she thinks it’s so cute to poke her wet nose into my cheeks :D but it’s all good :)

The Dharma Initiative

I’m thinking of legally changing my name to Alvar Hanso. And then taking on the secret identity of Alvaro Hanson, Mexican/Norwegian popster extraordinaire.

Sorry, I think I Lost it.

Must get back to working on the gallery, because that thing is dead in the water.

In my next entry I will introduce a new animal at the playground. Meanwhile, you can try to guess which one it is.

1) A llama
2) A sheep
3) A helicopter
4) A mapinguari
5) An electro-magnetic invisible dinosaur robot
6) A ferret
8) Kelvin
9) A swan
10) A Dr Swann

The winner will receive riches beyond their wildest dreams. Although, the check will bounce, sadly.

Eddie Murphy

Alritey. Where did I get to?

Therapy was good yesterday. Not so much the session itself. But the break. Last time the other Lasse had asked if I wouldn’t join them during the break. He was actually sick this time. But I went outside with Susanne and Anne. Sat in the sunshine and talked. I didn’t say that much. But it’s still a big step up from going outside alone and having no contact. I actually told them that I still lived at home. That’s a pretty big thing to share. When you live your life in constant fear of being judged.

So that was good. But enough about that. I’m tired, so I’m going to post a boatload of pictures instead of writing about cognitive therapy and it’s effect on the human psyche.

Look, bunny!

051004_bunny_th.jpg

Aw, a nice bunny. Look, there’s more.

051004_bunnieshare_th.jpg

But wait, what’s that third one hiding in the back? That’s not a bunny is it? No, it’s a hare.

051004_hare_th.jpg

What a cute, cute thing. The bunnies adopted it. I’m told. Don’t you just want to pick it up and cuddle it? You should.

The horses were out in the open.

That guy thought I worked at the playground. It’s not just kids who make that mistake. I really ought to get a job there.

Musse came to say hi to me. I have never been that close to the horses before. Without a fence in between us I mean. But nothing to worry about. Mathilde was a little nervous though, you can see her getting out of the way there.

And Magnethe were watching the horses closely too.

She was very interested in my shoelaces too. On my other shoes she likes to bite them a little and then she moves on because they’re not yummy enough I guess. But on these shoes, oh boy! She kept chewing and pulling and nibbling on them. When it was time for me to leave I had to sit down and tie both shoes because they were completely undone.

Had a good time with the kids too. They got to borrow my camera a little. It’s always a lot of fun. Although I’m more careful now, after the whole “dropping my extremely expensive camera on the ground” incident.

Then I had a really bad dream involving the goats. I can’t think of anything sadder than my goats in distress. Scary dreams don’t shake me, I can spend all night being hunted by giant dinosaurs or haunted by ghosts. I enjoy those dreams. But seeing Magnethe like that, that hurt.

Luckily the real world was still in check.

Magnethe as lively as ever. This is a special picture actually. I found her sweet spot! Her achilles scratching heel. It’s not actually a secret spot, it’s the same spot that Mads and Mathilde loves to be scratched on. But it hadn’t worked on Magnethe until today. She never seemed to enjoy a good scratch. But today I hit the spot. And it got the desired result. She stopped what she was doing. Stood still and gazed off into the distance. Every now and then squinting her eyes a little. Looking blissful. I love the look they get when I scratch them there. Hehe. I made a video of Mads being scratched. I don’t know if you can really sense how much he’s enjoying it. But trust me. They love it. It’s the one thing that can stop them even when they have food on their minds. Nothing is better than a good scratch.

And Mads and me are tight, y’all.

Even though I am deadtired and unshaven and flabby there.

A boy asked me why the goats liked me so much.

That’s him. I told him that they knew me. He said: “Maybe they like you because you wear glasses?”. Aw. Hehe. You never know. Maybe it is the glasses.

He was cute. He sat down next to me and started digging in the dirt. He picked up little stones, pebbles. Ordinary stuff that you can find millions of everywhere. But he said things like “this one is very special, it’s rare” and “this one is very old. I can get 10 kroners for it. Or 20 even”. Cute. I also helped him feed Mads. He was scared of the goats. But I could tell he was interested in them. He said he was too scared to feed them, but I showed him how to do it. And he did. And of course he was all proud and delighted.

051005_parakeets.jpg

Parakeets. Of course parakeets. Like the R.E.M. song. Look, one of them has the blues.

The piglets were out today too.

051005_piglets.jpg

Didn’t get any good pictures of them. But they are awfully cute. And if you want to see them properly then check out this video of them. Tiny, cute piglets. And a huge Mrs Piggy, the proud mother. It was good to see her up and about. In that picture I posted a few days ago, I said she was exhausted from the birth. That was an understatement. Apparently she was sick too. I overheard the caretakers talking about it. They had to call in a vet, and she got some injections. But today she was walking around and seemed healthy enough. So that’s a relief. She always amazes me just by how massive she is. She has a commanding presence. She’s a little over 5 years old. But I don’t know if that’s old for a pig.

I wonder if I would be good with kids? It’s nothing I would ever have considered in the past. Working with kids. But at the playground they seem to like me. And they always think I work there so they must see me as.. an adult. Sort of. And they ask me stuff. It seems like they even like me and sort of trust me. Maybe I could work with kids? Not yet, not right now. But maybe if life keeps improving and I do get better. I’m not sure at all, these are just thoughts floating around. I have no plans to become a kindergarten teacher or anything. But I do know that I’d love to work at the playground, and not just because of the animals. The kids too. Hmm. I guess it’s something to think about.

That’s all. Tonight is the big Lost episode where we’re supposed to learn what the deal is with the hatch stuff. I am excited. Too bad I’ll have to wait for tomorrow before I can watch it. But still, very excited. And excited about Mew too. Ten days and counting.

It’s nice to have good things to look forward to. Short term and long.

Your dream shows how caring you are. So I think it’s about compassion. I must say I chuckled at the marshmallow accident part. I rather like the idea of marshmallows causing accidents. Soft landings! And hmmm..symbolically having marshmallows on your shoulder is better than lots of armour so that may have been part of it too. You’re not hiding your vulnerability from people…you wear it on your shoulder kind of thing. I think people can see the kindness in you and animals are especially intuitive and insightful. If glasses is the reason then you are 100% glasses heh. It’s a funny thing. There’s only been one time in my life where I faced witnessing someone else’s pain and that was when my mom was dying of cancer. I couldn’t do anything about it – the cancer I mean – but just being there…having the courage to stay and face the worst of it with her meant the world to her…and that’s what your dream is about. You would be there for the goats if they needed you. You would help them.

P.S. My Bunny is bigger than your Bunny. hehe. I have a Minnie, too. Funny the names 10,000 pound animals get. Secretly it makes me happy.

Tickets To Paradise

Guess what I have?

I have Mew tickets!

That’s right, baby. Mew tickets for Friday the 14th (phew, close one). Ten days from now. And I am well excited. As you might have guessed if you read the big Mew entry a little downwards. I am head over heels for their new record. You oughta do yourself a favour and pick it up. If you only buy one Danish album in your life then Mew And The Glasshanded Kites should be it.

No, wait. If you only buy one Danish record then it should be Tina Dickow. Because she’s special. But if you’re going to buy a lot of Danish records then Mew And The Glasshanded Kites should definitely be one of them. In my humble opinion it is a masterpiece. How’s that for humility?

My favourite line is this: “Why did you.. not include.. me?”. It doesn’t read so well, but imagine it with a frail, almost feminine voice and piano. From White Lips Kissed. Just one of the many pearls on the necklace that is Mew And The Glasshanded Kites.

That was “Mew And The Glasshanded Kites”.

And in a fortnight I’ll be rocking out to them in live person. It will be my fifth concert, my second with Mew. And this time I’m staying for Comforting Sounds, you better believe it.

Oh brother. My gallery is fuxed up. It’s all in shambles. I guess I’ll have to start working on that. So no time to upload new pictures tonight. Too bad for you, because I have incredible cuteness in store. But you’ll see, soon enough. This entry is hereby aborted.
