I Want My Commodore 64

Plume’s top million computer games of all time:

1) Goal
2) Ultima 7 (1+2+addons)
3) Monkey Island 2
4) Sam & Max (I forget the subtitle)
5) Ultima Underworld 2
6) Ultima 6
7) Ultima 9 (yeah it sucked, but still)
8) Sensible Soccer (swos)
9) Championship manager (93 edition I think)
10) Kentilla (hehe)
11) Myth (C-64 version)
12) Turrican 2 (C-64 version as well)
13) Doom
14) Ultima 8
15) Turrican
16) Rockstar Ate My Hamster

I should have researched this better. I can’t remember half the old games. How young is too young to go senile?

You Lie In Your Bed

The new cult comic Suicidal Fish has gotten its own page. Cult is still defined as “something nobody cares about except for a tiny minority, possibly only one person”, right?
I might have to give the fish some prozac, Skye didn’t like that he was always so sad.

Also added A diaryland older-page style list of entries. Not really much use to anyone. But who knows, maybe some day I’ll sit here thinking “hmmm when did I write about meteor showers?”. And then it’ll come in handy!

More updates to come, I hope I can use my vacation to get plume.dk finalized. It’s never going to be pretty, but I want it to be all me. Maybe I will even get the picture section done. Although I might need an extra month’s vacation for that. I should talk to my boss about it. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind.

I love when you can’t tell a Wednesday apart from a Saturday.

I also want to take a second to plug Maile. Not only is she a great person but I helped her set up her wordpress blog. It was a lot more complicated than it should have been too. But I made it. So lest my effort was a waste, go check it out.

New musical delights high on my hitlist: Porcupine Tree and Rufus Wainwright. It’s never too late to discover good music.

Time To Ponder

Vacation slowly simmers. The nights become longer, the days shorter. The sun shines brighter as if to compress itself into the fewer hours. Time slows to a halt.

I had a meeting at the anxiety clinic yesterday. (The picture of me sitting under a tree was taken on my way home from there). Talked to Signe, the therapist that will be in charge of the group sessions. Nothing too interesting. Mostly rehashing all the stuff I talked with the old therapist about. And talking a little about the group sessions and the future. They’ll be starting in the beginning of August. With time slowing down, that is many months away.

And now I have no outstanding worries, I have nothing planned for a month. I like that. Like an ocean of free time that I can swim into. If there is one thing I miss about being a lonely, sad, bitter, isolated loser then it is having all the time in the world to do anything I wanted. Unfortunately the “lonely, sad, bitter, isolated loser” part itself was never so nice. I have dug out my old paper journals. All the way back to 1994 they go. Strange reading. Very poorly written. And a life very poorly thought out. If I could only go back in time and give myself a good ass whoopping. “Stay in school, moron”. But no. The past is what makes the present, and right now the present is no longer so awful. Who knows if I would have been happy if I had stayed in school? I will not say that I have no regrets, because I do. I have a couple of big ones. But I’m on the right track now. Hopefully I have made my mistakes, used up my quota of bad fortune.

050627_boys.jpg

Smiles are better.

050628_magnethe.jpg

My lovely Magnethe. I love her flat nose. It’s so cute. I love when she taps me on the shoulder with her legs. “I know you have food. Don’t you be holding out on me”. It is such a human thing to do, projecting your own humanity onto animals. I don’t know what Magnethe is thinking. But I know I’m thinking she’s one of the best things that has happened in my life. I still remember being all amazed the first time I saw her. I didn’t even know Mathilde was a girl, much less that she was bearing a wonderful little goat kid.

Funny things happen to your thought processes. Now when I look at bushes and trees and see beautiful leaves I don’t think “oh beautiful colours, lively leaves in the wind, pretty shapes”. No, I think “Mmm they look yummy. I bet Mads would love them”.

There are other animals at the playground of course. The geese.

050628_geese1.jpg

050628_geese3.jpg

They are still very protective of their young ones. If you walk too closely by then they will adopt their defensive poses.

050628_geese2.jpg

Head low to the ground, mouth open. Walking towards you in a threatening manor. They don’t know I’m a gentle giant. I wouldn’t harm a feather on their bodies.

050628_horses.jpg

A horse, a horse. My kingdom for a horse. And there are two. Musse and Sine enjoying the summer. The weather has cooled down. I prefer it like this. Sunny and warm, with a breeze and occasional clouds. Better than choking heatwaves and melting asphalt.

And now for something completely different. Do you know Postsecret? There is something about it that speaks to me. I think it’s beautiful. The humanity in it. It’s funny too of course, some of it. But I find it touching. It makes me want to write down a secret on a postcard and send it to them. I don’t know what to write though. Maybe that should be my secret.

This one could be mine. I’m not quite 28 but other than that it fits pretty good.

I guess the flaws are what make us interesting. Unique. It’s funny how I desire to be normal, but at the same time I don’t want to be boring. I want so badly to fit into a crowd, but I don’t want to disappear in it. Is it even possible? To be like everyone else but to still be unique? I love snow. The falling snow. Every snowflake is unique, and yet you couldn’t tell them apart in a snowstorm.

Nobody wants to be alone.

Your Day, Your Week, Your Month Or Even Your Year

To celebrate the vacation I have uploaded some videos that I have had lying around for a while.

Here they are.

Three cute ones of me having fun with Magnethe and Mathilde. Is it any wonder they make me happy?

The first day with dad in the house has been okay. I will talk about it more at another time. Just wanted to mention something funny. My dad has read Stephen King’s The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. This is really funny if you know my dad. He’s the serious type. He reads serious books, watches serious movies. He doesn’t understand why you would want to watch a cartoon or play a computer game or watch a hollywood movie. But the funny thing is that he really liked the Stephen King book! Hah. He sounded all excited when he talked about it. How he was “really gripped” by it. Man. I guess you have to know my dad to appreciate it, but it really is hilarious.

It’s nice that people can still surprise you sometimes.

And that’s all. First day of summer, many more to come.

You’re Mistaken, It’s You Who’s Faking

I bought a new appliance today. I want to quote something from the instructions:

Do not operate the appliance under the following situations:
- High temperatures and humidity

Guess what appliance I bought?

050624_ventilator.jpg

Hah. Odd. Why do they think I bought it, so I could make the scandinavian winter even colder? No, I bought it because there are very, very high temperatures and I need to cool down.

Seriously, the last two days have been hot. Way too hot. Asphalt melting hot. Thank god I now have a huge ventilator. I would say that it blows me away, but I’m afraid you would judge me.

More importantly, I have now got vacation. A whole month of vacation. Oh how sweet it is. I could not bee any happier. Bzzz.

I think I’m going to sleep in front of my new ventilator the whole time. That seems like a good way to spend my vacation.

Ah well, maybe I’ll go to the playground once in a while too.

I need to check up on my award winning love.

050624_magnethe.jpg

050624_madsbench.jpg

And Mads, the crazy goat.

050624_madshypnosis.jpg

“You… Will… Feed… Me… Now! I command you!”

A beautiful, summer day.

050624_summerday.jpg

My dad comes home tonight. Late tonight. Back from Greenland. For the summer vacation. Lots of conflicting feelings. I’ll talk about that another time. I just hope we can have a peaceful, quiet vacation. That’s all I want.

Happy weekend, everybody!

1st Prize… 1st Prize… 1st Prize…

The picture in the previous entry was for a couple of guys at the playground. They wanted me to take a picture of them while they were cuddling Black. Then they asked if they were going to be in the paper. Hehe. I told them that I wasn’t a journalist, I was just taking pictures for fun. But that they might end up on the internet. So I wrote down the address of my blog for them.

That explains that.

I had a sweet time today. The big animal show. Or animal fair? I’m not sure what it’s called. Dyrskue in Danish. It was great fun.

I went down to the Electric City store with my camera first. The clerk wanted to give me a replacement. But they didn’t have any left. Damn. So instead we had to send it off for repairs. I can expect it back in 10 business days.

I could have used it today. But my old camera had to suffice.

I got there early and sat down with the goats. Waiting for the show to start.

And would you look at Mads.

animal show

Ahahaha. All dressed up for the event.

animal show

I’m not sure he’s amused by it though. “Psssh, humans…”

animal show

Doesn’t he look like a French painter or something?

I think he found the whole thing rather silly.

animal show

And you know, the harder you try to drag him the harder he will resist. If you tie him down then he will insist that he has places to go, but if you want him to go somewhere then he will insist that he’s perfectly fine right where he is. That goat has got a mind of his own.

We did manage to get him to come with us to the little field. Mathilde and Magnethe came with no fuzz.

Mads: “We’re going where? I’m not going anywhere! You can’t make me! I want to stay here! Don’t you try to pull me anywhere! Let me go! Let me gooooo!”.

Magnethe + Mathilde: “We’re going where? Oh okay, let’s go then”.

animal show

animal show

Just an informal little thing. People could bring their own animals and show them off but I think there were only animals from the playground there.

animal show

Sheepies.

animal show

Horsies.

animal show

Roostafaris.

animal show

Bunnies. Magnethe was very interested in that bunny. I think she might have a crush on him. If it’s a him.

So basically all the animals were lined up around the center spot. They all had kids assigned to take care of them. I was assigned to Magnethe, of course. There was a professional judge who went around and looked at the animals and gave them grades.

And the bigger animals had to do a walk-about in the center.

animal show

animal show

A horse’s butt. You saw it here first. They put in a lot of effort to make them look good.

Eventually it got to be the sheeps’ turn. So the Mama sheep and her two lambs went into the circle to do the walkabout. Apparently the goats thought that looked like fun, so they followed right in after them!

animal show

Haha. So the sheep got out and now it was the goats’ turn. But the goats followed the sheep out of the ring and didn’t feel like going back in. Oh dear. Mads had to be dragged again. And I had to pick up Magnethe and carry her into the center. When I put her down in there she walked very nicely along with me though. And I guess it wasn’t a complete mess because she scored a 23.

The judge said that he was judging by the same principles as he would at a real fair. And that the top score was 24. No one got that. But then no one got under 20, so I think he might have been a little kind to the kids. Just a little.

But 23 from a possible 24, that’s not bad for my first animal show!

gold

And we got a gold medal, Magnethe and I! She was very impressed with it. For 10 seconds, then she realized that she couldn’t eat it and she turned back to grassing.

I was proud though.

animal show

Giving out awards.

And I got a diploma too.

animal show

If you’re wondering why it looks a little ragged, well… Mads took a couple of bites of it. Hah. Crazy goat.

But that was a big success. Diplomas and gold medals.

animal show

Ditte, Kurt and Alice giving out the prizes. Everyone got prizes. Everyone got a diploma. Several got gold medals. But still… I rocked that kid’s animal show!

animal show

Kids borrowed my camera. It was a great time, hanging out with them all. Talking to them. Cuddling the animals. Is there anything cuter than kids with animals? It’s so sweet.

Afterwards it was time for cake and lemonade.

animal show

Good stuff. Ditte gave me a piece of cake. That was sweet of her. Maybe Skye is right, maybe Ditte is more my type than the bargirl. Hehe.

animal show

Surprisingly, Mads wanted cake too.

I’m really glad I did this. Another great experience, another victory against the social phobia. I thanked Kurt for letting me participate, and he thanked me for coming. I love that place, I love those people. And animals of course.

It’s getting late so I’ll close down with two shots of the star of the show.

animal show

animal show

Magnethe, a winner in every sense.

Now Presenting

The best thing happened today. I was invited to an animal show at the playground. Not as a spectactor. No, as a participant! They want me to present Magnethe!

Presenting Magnethe.

050621_magnethe.jpg

I love her. She is the cutest, cutest thing. And I am all amazed that they want me to do it. Kurt asked me. I was up there after work today. And he asked me if I was planning on stopping by tomorrow. I said I probably would, yes. And then he told me about their animal show. It’s not going to be anything huge. Just a little one, on the field next to their club house. And apparently they had been talking about who was going to be presenting the goats… and they agreed that even though strictly speaking I wasn’t a kid it still HAD to be me. Awww. That’s so sweet. It had to be me. So I get to present Magnethe.

I have no idea what that actually involves. Hah. I was just told to show up at 2, latest. I assume I’ll have to walk with her. In front of a crowd. Won’t be a big crowd, but still scary. It didn’t take me long to say yes though. I love Magnethe, I love the animals. It’ll be great to be a part of it. And it will be good social training.

It makes me happy. That they think I’m the right one to do it. Because of how close I am to the goats. Makes me feel special.

I hope it will go okay.

Some kids were trying to train with Mads for tomorrow.

050621_madsdrag1.jpg

050621_madsdrag2.jpg

050621_madsdrag3.jpg

Haha. Obviously Mads is way too independent to allow himself to be dragged around like that. Even with a nice branch full of juicy leaves in front of him, he was still resisting. And the more they pulled on the leash, the more he pulled back.

Kurt said it was amazing how Magnethe always follows me around when I come to the playground. I hope she will follow me tomorrow. I don’t want to make a fool out of myself. Oh well, three goats, three sheep, two horses. And various little critters. It’s not a huge show. I think it will be fun.

050621_kurthorse.jpg

Kurt with one of the horses.

Tomorrow will be interesting. I’m taking my new camera back to the shop too. I guess they’ll send it off for reparations. And then it will be weeks before I get it back. Darnit. But at least my old one still works ok.

Oh yes, I was supposed to tell the Swan Lee concert story. I will condense it down a little. My fourth ever concert. The traffic was bad. I’m not sure if it was just general busy Friday evening traffic. Or if it had something to do with all the people celebrating their graduation. Lots of student caps around. It was worst on the way home. The bus stood still for 15 minutes because the driver couldn’t get the back door shut. The bus was so crowded. And when we finally got going then we had to drive straight to the central station without making any stops. Luckily that was where I was going anyway. And I handled the crowded bus okay. No worries.

The show went fine too. I got there in good time. Picked a place at the edge of a hedge. People started filling on both sides of the hedge. Hopefully at one of my next concerts I’ll be able to get a place up front. That would be nice.

Swan Lee were good. Not quite as good as my first shows. I haven’t been a big fan of Swan Lee previously, I had only heard their singles. So it was new material for me. I always like songs better when I have had the chance to get to know them, listen to them for a while. But the band did well. Pernille Rosendahl is a great lead singer. Great crowd interaction. And she’s beautiful. Is there anything hotter than a female lead singer in rock band? Well, maybe there is. But it’s pretty dang hot anyway.

They did a cover of Enter Sandman. That was interesting. With female vocals. Not quite aggressive enough I think, but interesting yes. And all in all it was a good show. Good music, good times. And I am incredibly happy that I am now a concert-goer. It’s a big step I have taken.

I have to say that I’m a little proud of myself. Lately I have been facing my fears, working on my problems. Saying yes to the animal show, going to receptions, concerts, parades, movies. Out and about. I have a very avoidant personality but I think I have gotten a lot better at “making” myself do hard things. Instead of shying away from them I now face them. And for the better. Life is better.

I think I deserve some vacation too. Three days! Then it’s vacation. Oh sweet McGuffin, it’s going to be lovely.

Tick-tock, counting down.

… and to my surprise I found what I was looking for. I found that my heart is in Chicago, and that my heart is in The Smashing Pumpkins.

Man. Embrace the future of the Smashing Pumpkins. Thanks for the PDF, Chris.

And you’re right, you know. You deserve to more than a bit proud of yourself. You’ve come a long way, baby. =)

Beauty Lives Forever

“For a year now I have walked around with a secret, a secret I chose to keep. But now I want you to be among the first to know that I have made plans to renew and revive The Smashing Pumpkins. I want my band back, and my songs, and my dreams.”

The Smashing Pumpkins comeback?

I’m not going to allow myself to get excited. Because you know, it’s too good to be true.

Billy saying it on tv. Reviving the pumpkins. If it actually happens then it will be like a miracle. Rising from the dead. Who knows, maybe I will get to see the pumpkins live after all.

I can’t imagine James and D’arcy coming back though. Not after all the shit that went down. So… Billy and Jimmy. And Linda Strawberry? And who else? It won’t be the real real pumpkins. But even so. Billy and Jimmy playing pumpkin songs. That would be the best thing ever.

I don’t believe it though. I don’t believe it will go through like it’s supposed to. It’s the oldest lesson in the book. If it’s too good to be true, then it probably ain’t true.

But I hope you will all join me in crossing my fingers. Maybe dreams can come true?

I don’t see any reason why D’arcy wouldn’t want to join again..but I agree with you that it will be really hard to talk James into joining again. Billy’s talked too much shit, he’s got the Scratchy records thing going again, as well as playing with APC, and possibly recording another solo record.

That said, I don’t think Billy would make that statement unless he knew something that we didn’t. Let’s hope indeed.
